Assessment of DSI

A National Assessment

DSI has been pilot-tested with over 1,000 students to date. Students thought the game was fun, learned and gained an increased interest in science. They also finished the game with an increased concern for the hazards of drug use. The next version of the game will be available in the fall of 2010.

Through pre-test and post-test surveys, we will determine the effects of five cases of DSI on learning, attitudes, and opinions about drugs of abuse. These cases can be run as supplements to health or science classes or in after-school programs for middle school students. The surveys will assess learning transfer by determining if DSI can increase the ability of students to use information to solve problems unrelated to DSI. A third survey, given a month or so later, will assess retention of learned material. Teachers will receive performance information for each student.

Participate in the national assessment and you will be eligible to use DSI next year free of charge!
